YEREVAN, August 27. /ARKA/. The peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan is founded on shared interests, stated Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.

"There is no clause that is fundamentally detrimental to one nation while being beneficial to the other. Everything outlined in the treaty serves mutual interests. It would be unexpected for either party to breach the agreement. It holds equal significance and mutual responsibilities for both nations," he remarked during a broadcast on the Public Television of Armenia.

He noted that the Washington Declaration of August 8 confirmed that peace has now been established between Armenia and Azerbaijan. ‘This declaration was endorsed by the Prime Minister of Armenia, along with the Presidents of Azerbaijan and the United States, who acted as a witness,’ he said.

"The peace agreement has been initialed. There will be subsequent actions and a process. The global community has declared: that’s it, peace is now established. The leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan have also affirmed this," Mirzoyan stated.

He also said it is in Turkey's interest to facilitate the unblocking of infrastructure and to actively participate in the overall unblocking of the region.

"We have a fairly meaningful and dynamic dialogue with the Turkish side both at the official diplomatic level and behind closed doors."

According to him, Turkey is voicing the following: "We have no problems, we want and are ready to open the borders, establish relations, but we must do this after the signing of the Armenia-Azerbaijan agreement."

"There was no formal signing, but informally, the agreement was initialed. Logic tells me that this should be followed by the unblocking of infrastructure between Armenia and Turkey. I also see the interest of the Turkish side to do this if there are no obstacles. But I cannot draw conclusions about what Turkish experts and Turkish officials think. We will observe the developments," Mirzoyan said. -0-
