YEREVAN, August 17. /ARКА/. Aram Hovhannisyan, the former Chief of Police of Armenia, has been appointed as the Chief of the Military Police within the Ministry of Defense of Armenia.

"Following the recommendation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, President Vahagn Khachaturyan has signed a decree to appoint Major General Aram Hovhannisyan as Chief of the Military Police of the Ministry of Defense," reported the press service of the Ministry of Defense.

On August 13, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed the issue of non-combat fatalities among military personnel, announcing forthcoming personnel changes in both the Military Police and the Moral and Psychological Support Department of the Ministry of Defense.

He stressed the importance of personal accountability and mandated an investigation into why the current measures are failing to yield the desired outcomes.

Pashinyan also remarked that he does not view the efforts of the Minister of Defense and the Chief of the General Staff as inadequate in addressing the issue. This statement followed the discovery of serviceman Grigor Zakaryan's body in a military unit, which had a gunshot wound.-0-
