YEREVAN, July 28. /ARKA/. The Food Safety Inspectorate of Armenia will begin full-scale inspections of food delivery service employees starting August 1. Having a health certificate will become mandatory, the agency's press service reported.
The Inspectorate recalled that at the beginning of the year, it warned companies operating in this sector about upcoming tightened controls. The decision was made amid the growing popularity of food delivery services, as well as a significant number of complaints and appeals from citizens.
Couriers who fail to undergo preliminary and periodic medical examinations or who do not have a health certificate will be subject to administrative liability. Employers are required to ensure that employees who directly handle food products during their production and handling stages undergo medical examinations.
During a meeting with representatives of delivery companies, they requested time to conduct medical examinations and issue health certificates for 2,000–3,000 couriers. The inspection agency has set an additional deadline for this.
Starting August 1, 2026, the agency will begin full-scale oversight. The agency intends to publish information about any violations identified, as well as the names of companies that are conscientiously complying with legal requirements.
The agency clarified that personnel involved at any stage of the food chain—from production, processing, and storage to transportation, import, export, and sales of food—must undergo a preliminary medical examination upon hiring and then repeat it every six months. Each such employee is required to have a personal health certificate.
