YEREVAN, May 18. /ARKA/. Earthworks for the construction of a road between Isakov and Arshakunyats Avenues under the Asian Development Bank (ADB) program will begin in mid-June in Yerevan, announced Anetta Babayan, Advisor to the Mayor of Yerevan.
"From May to mid-June, the detailed schedule approval process will be completed, and advance payments under the guarantees will begin. Resources and equipment will be mobilized," she noted at a working meeting at City Hall on Monday.
Babayan announced that an $80 million loan will be received from the ADB, including government co-financing.
"All tenders under the program have been held, and contracts have been signed," Babayan said. The program includes the construction of a road between Isakov and Arshakunyats Avenues, a 269-meter reinforced concrete bridge across the Hrazdan River, and the reconstruction and landscaping of the area adjacent to Komitas Park.
The road will provide a direct connection between three administrative districts of Yerevan (Malatia-Sebastia, Downtown, and Shengavit), facilitating the redistribution of traffic flows.
Construction was previously scheduled to begin in 2023, but bureaucratic obstacles related to completing land acquisition procedures and resettling residents from the areas encompassing the construction site have delayed the deadline.
