According to him, the base expansion will allow the airline to launch three new destinations from Yerevan.
"Starting December 18, Wizz Air will begin operating flights from Yerevan to Basel, Switzerland, three times a week, and from December 19, to Valencia, Spain. Another new destination, Varna, Bulgaria, will be launched twice a week on June 6, 2027," Malin said at a press conference on Tuesday.
He also announced that the airline will increase the frequency of flights to two existing destinations. Starting December 17, flights from Yerevan to Prague will operate up to five times a week, and to Memmingen up to four times a week.
"An increase in the number of flights means a greater influx of tourists, the creation of new jobs in the tourism industry, and increased tax revenue. There will be 21 routes in total, creating 40 new jobs at the Yerevan base," Malin said.
"We will explore new opportunities. We are also considering flights to Georgia and Kazakhstan, but there are issues with flight permits," Malin said, responding to a question from the ARKA news agency.
He also stated that Wizz Air is projected to operate approximately 500 flights from Yerevan to 18 destinations in 2026, carrying approximately 700,000 passengers in Armenia.
