YEREVAN, August 2. /ARKA/. Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan has accepted the resignation of the government. The corresponding decree was published on the presidential website.

Previously, Nikol Pashinyan, in accordance with Article 158 of the RA Constitution, signed the government's resignation and sent it to the president for signature. Until a new cabinet is formed, government members will continue to perform their duties.

The government's resignation is conditioned by the procedure established by law for forming a new government after parliamentary elections and the commencement of the new parliament's term.

According to Article 149 of the Constitution, the president of the Republic of Armenia immediately appoints the candidate nominated by the parliamentary majority as prime minister after the commencement of the term of the newly elected National Assembly.

Pashinyan announced that the parliamentary majority will present a candidate for prime minister to the president of the Republic today, and the appointment will take place in accordance with Article 148 of the Constitution.
