YEREVAN, July 30. /ARKA/. On Thursday, the Armenian government decided to impose a six-month ban on tomato paste imports, including from Eurasian Economic Union countries.

As stated in the rationale for the decision, the measure is aimed at ensuring equal competitive conditions for importers and companies producing tomato paste from local raw materials, as well as regulating the tomato procurement process.

The ban is expected to increase sales of Armenian-produced tomato paste and boost demand for tomatoes. This, in turn, should ensure the procurement of the entire harvest offered by local agricultural producers for processing.
