YEREVAN, November 9. /ARKA/. The Armenian government has approved today a proposal to conclude an agreement with Denmark on simplifying the procedure for issuing visas. Deputy foreign minister Shavarsh Kocharyan said to a Cabinet session that the agreement provides for a significant simplification of the visa issuing procedure for the citizens of Armenia.
He explained that under the agreement citizens of Armenia will get the right to stay in Denmark and other countries of the Schengen zone for a period of no more than 90 days during every 180 days, which is an essential step towards easing the visa regime.
The simplified visa issuance procedure will apply to the closest relatives of Danish citizens or citizens of Armenia legally residing in that country, to members of official delegations, journalists, participants of international exhibitions, forums, scientific conferences, seminars, international sporting events, exchange programs between sister cities, to persons visiting Denmark for medical treatment, to representatives of civil society, drivers engaged in international transportation, school children, students, entrepreneurs and representatives of business organizations, as well as persons visiting military and civil burial grounds.
The document also regulates the procedure for issuing multiple-entry visas for up to five years to spouses and children of Danish citizens or Armenian citizens legally residing in that country, members of national and regional governments and parliaments, constitutional and supreme courts. According to the agreement, the visa fee is 35 euros.
Earlier, Armenia unilaterally abolished entry visas for citizens of all EU countries, including Denmark. --0--
