YEREVAN, January 29. /ARKA/. Normalizing relations between Armenia and Turkey is crucial, and the time is long overdue for these developments to take place, stated Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

"I think these developments will take place, and the agreements reached in 2022 will become reality," Pashinyan said at a briefing on Thursday.

According to the Prime Minister, the Armenian side is taking action in the Margara and Akhurik sections (bordering Turkey - ed.) to ensure that Armenia's lack of readiness does not become an obstacle to possible solutions.

The Prime Minister expressed hope that the appropriate decisions will be made. "Work is also underway through diplomatic channels. We are receiving certain signals, and there are also public signals from Turkey," he noted.

Margara and Akhurik are settlements in the Armavir and Shirak regions of Armenia, respectively, where checkpoints on the border with Turkey are located. These checkpoints are currently inoperative. Armenian authorities announced the completion of the technical and infrastructural modernization of the Margara checkpoint.

In November 2025, Pashinyan announced Armenia's readiness to facilitate the transit of trucks from Turkey to Azerbaijan and vice versa along the Margara-Yeghegnadzor-Sisian-Goris route.
