YEREVAN, April 22. /ARKA/. Tariffs for connecting new subscribers to Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) CJSC will be reduced to 40%, announced ENA Acting Governor Romanos Petrosyan.
"Today, the Public Services Regulatory Commission of the Republic of Armenia decided to reduce tariffs for connecting new subscribers to the Electric Networks of Armenia (to the distribution network of the consumption system) for individuals and legal entities by 40%, and to reduce the fee for increasing capacity or connecting new capacity by 55%," Petrosyan noted.
He announced that the decision will come into effect the day after its publication (presumably tomorrow).
Details from the regulator
According to the PSRC decision, the rules governing the operation of the electricity market distribution network established new tariffs for connection to the distribution network, as well as the corresponding connection fees paid by applicants for individual residential buildings and detached structures on the 0.22 kV and 0.4 kV networks, as well as by developers of multi-apartment buildings.
Standard connection fee for individual residential buildings and commercial consumers on the 0.22 kV network:
* for a capacity of 10 kVA in Yerevan, the connection fee has been reduced by approximately 40% to 166,000 drams from the current 277,000 drams, and in other regions, by approximately 46% to 124,000 drams from the current 229,000 drams;
* For a 14 kVA capacity in Yerevan, the connection fee has been reduced by approximately 34%, to 199,000 drams from the current 300,000 drams, and in other regions of the country, by approximately 40%, to 140,000 drams from the current 234,000 drams;
* For private residential buildings and commercial consumers connected at 0.4 kV, the fixed component of the standard connection fee has been reduced by approximately 24%, to 229,000 drams from the current 300,000 drams. Variable costs for Yerevan have been reduced by approximately 65%, to 16,000 drams from the current 46,000 drams, and for other regions of the country, by approximately 55%, to 9,000 drams from the current 20,000 drams.
1. When calculating the connection fee for multi-apartment buildings with single-phase connections:
* for 10 kVA capacity in Yerevan, the fee has been reduced by approximately 40% to 406,000 drams from the current 672,000 drams, and in other regions of the country, by approximately 39% to 275,000 drams from the current 448,000 drams;
* for 14 kVA capacity in Yerevan, the fee has been reduced by approximately 45% to 424,000 drams from the current 769,000 drams, and in other regions of the country, by approximately 39% to 318,000 drams from the current 520,000 drams.
2. In case of connection at 0.4 kV (three-phase):
* the direct current component has been reduced by approximately 24%, to 229,000 drams instead of the current 300,000 drams, and the variable costs for Yerevan have been reduced by approximately 31%, to 61,000 drams instead of the current 89,000 drams, and for the rest of the country, by approximately 33%, to 28,000 drams instead of the current 42,000 drams.
About the status of ENA
Romanos Petrosyan has been the interim manager of ENA since July 18, 2025.
On April 9, 2026, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that ENA had already been de facto nationalized, and that this status would subsequently be formalized legally.
According to Pashinyan, the decision to transfer ENA to state control was made, in particular, taking into account the interests of consumers and the accumulated problems in the company's management.
Vardan Aloyan, a lawyer for Tashir Capital (the owner of ENA), told ARKA news agency that the Armenian Administrative Court suspended the government's actions to initiate the procedure for transferring ENA to state ownership until May 25.
