YEREVAN, April 16. /ARKA/. On Thursday, the National Assembly of Armenia adopted in the first reading the law "On establishing minimum requirements for liability insurance for air carriers and aircraft operators to passengers, flight and maintenance personnel, baggage, cargo, and third parties."

According to Armen Simonyan, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia, the initiative stems from the Common Aviation Area Agreement with the European Union, signed in 2021 and ratified by the National Assembly.

According to him, the bill aims to align national legislation with European standards and directives.

Simonyan noted that the proposed changes concern insurance obligations in the air transport sector.

"In particular, it establishes requirements for liability insurance for organizations holding an aircraft operator certificate, flight and maintenance personnel, baggage, cargo, and third parties," he said.

The deputy minister stated that the law provides for comprehensive regulation and defines legal relations between the main players in the insurance industry. Furthermore, the document establishes minimum insurance limits, aligned with EU requirements.
