The EAEU Treaty does not provide for a procedure for withdrawal or suspension of membership.
YEREVAN, June 4. /ARKA/. The EAEU Treaty does not provide for a procedure for withdrawal or suspension of membership. The possibility of applying these measures will be explored by December, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk told Interfax.
"We will now study what a suspension would mean. The truth is that the Treaty on the Union does not provide for a regime for suspension of membership, nor does it provide for a regime for expelling members. Therefore, all this must be carefully studied, from a legal perspective, by December," he said.
On May 29, following the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Astana, the presidents of Belarus, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, and the Russian Federation adopted a joint statement, according to which the issue of Armenia's membership in the EAEU is expected to be revisited at the next meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.
