Blackberries, cherries, and raspberries have been excluded from the export support program, with flowers added in their place, Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan announced at a government meeting, commenting on the relevant draft Cabinet decision.
YEREVAN, September 3. /ARKA/. Blackberries, cherries, and raspberries have been excluded from the export support program, with flowers added in their place, Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan announced at a government meeting, commenting on the relevant draft Cabinet decision.
"The current draft is essentially a continuation of the work to improve the existing export support programs. The list includes certain products that have no export potential since September—blackberries, cherries, and raspberries. We have excluded them from the list and added flowers, which are eligible for export support," Papoyan noted at a government meeting on Thursday.
He noted that the remaining existing support programs for all types of fruits and vegetables have been retained.
Furthermore, according to the minister, the period for compensation for purchases for processing peaches and figs is planned to be extended for another month.
He also cited statistics for the first seven months of this year, noting that agricultural exports during this period amounted to $849 million, compared to approximately $865 million for the same period last year, adding that the decline was 1.85%.
"Considering the current pace, we can say that, including August, we will be able to exceed last year's figure," Papoyan said.
The minister assured that the problem with export volumes has been resolved.
"We are diversifying markets and increasing exports. Flowers were exported to 28 countries, fruits to 24 countries, and vegetables to 16 countries," Papoyan reported.
