YEREVAN, May 27. /ARKA/. At a meeting on Wednesday, the Armenian government approved a draft law amending the Law on Road Safety and several related laws, providing for a simplified procedure for restoring driver's licenses after they have been revoked.

Previously, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan proposed changing the mechanism for restoring driver's licenses for citizens who have been deprived of their driving license.

Interior Minister Arpine Sargsyan stated that under the new model, citizens will be able to restore their driving license once without retaking the exam, upon payment of a state fee of 50,000 drams.

"This procedure will apply if the application is submitted within one year after the grounds for the deprivation of the driving license have been eliminated," Sargsyan noted.
She explained that, during the probationary period, drivers will be assigned six penalty points instead of the standard 13, and if they exhaust these, their driving privileges will be revoked for another year.

"The draft also includes a transitional provision. According to it, individuals whose driving privileges were revoked after January 1, 2020, will be able to reinstate their driving privileges once through a simplified procedure—upon payment of a state fee and with six penalty points assigned for a one-year probationary period," Sargsyan said.
