Russia has banned the sale of wine and cognac from three Armenian producers

Rospotrebnadzor (the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing) announced the suspension of sales in Russia of "identified substandard alcoholic beverages from Armenia."
YEREVAN, May 24. /ARKA/. Rospotrebnadzor (the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing) announced the suspension of sales in Russia of "identified substandard alcoholic beverages from Armenia."
These products concern wine and cognac produced by Vedi-Alco, Abovyan Cognac Factory, and Shakhnazaryan Wine and Cognac House, Interfax reports, citing Rospotrebnadzor.
"In order to prevent the sale of these products, which do not meet mandatory requirements, retailers and importers have been notified of the suspension of sales and the withdrawal of the substandard alcoholic beverages," Rospotrebnadzor added.
The products that do not meet mandatory requirements are Getap Vernashen (11% ABV, 0.75 L, bottled February 3, 2025) and Getap Vernashen (Ordinary Varietal Red Semi-Sweet Wine) and Dry White (Ordinary Varietal White Wine). Vedi Alco, Kharji, T3 "Arni Legends" (12% abv, 0.75 l, bottling on December 17, 2024), produced by Vedi-Alco CJSC.
Also on the list of substandard products is "Armenian Cognac 5 Stars" (40% abv, 0.5 l, bottling on January 20, 2025), produced by Abovyan Cognac Factory LLC (Abovyan, Republic of Armenia). Additionally, non-compliance was found in "KV" (Shahnazaryan XO) seven-year-old aged vintage Armenian cognac (40% abv, 0.5 l, bottling on May 16, 2025), produced by Shahnazaryan Wine and Brandy House LLC (Yeghvard, Republic of Armenia).
Rospotrebnadzor previously announced a temporary sanitary measure to suspend the import and distribution of all batches of Armenian mineral water "Jermuk" in Russia due to detected excess levels of bicarbonate ions, chlorides, and sulfates.
