ALMATY, June 25. /ARKA/. Armenia's trade turnover with the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union has tripled in the past five years, reaching $8 billion, said Nikolay Podguzov, Chairman of the Management Board of the Eurasian Development Bank, in Almaty at a business forum dedicated to the EDB's 20th anniversary.

"This shows that Eurasian connectivity is not an abstract topic for Armenia, but a factor in developing trade and realizing new opportunities," Podguzov said.

According to him, Armenia is also a leader in attracting foreign investment from Eurasian countries. According to EDB mutual investment monitoring data, the volume of such investment increased by 78% between 2020 and 2025, five times higher than the regional average.

Podguzov noted that the EDB made a significant contribution to this dynamic. Over the past four and a half years, the bank's investments in Armenia have totaled $380 million, exceeding the country's five-year strategic target by 30%.

RA Finance Minister Vahe Hovhannisyan, in turn, stated that over two decades, the EDB has established itself not simply as a financial institution, but as a strategic partner for Armenia.

"During the implementation of the EDB's 2022-2026 strategy, projects worth nearly $400 million have already been financed in Armenia. These projects are being implemented in the energy, agro-industrial, and real sectors of the economy, contributing to the creation of new jobs and the development of public-private partnership mechanisms," Hovhannisyan said.

Hovhannisyan noted that large-scale projects in logistics, energy, and industry require long-term financing and effective risk-sharing mechanisms. In this context, he stated, the EDB's role is to structure complex projects, attract private capital, and integrate Armenian enterprises into Eurasian high-value chains.

The minister also stated that the EDB's strategy for 2027–2031, which is currently being developed, is aligned with Armenia's national development agenda and is in line with the country's economic development priorities.
