Armenia and Iran Discuss Measures to Increase Border Capacity

On June 23, a working group established to discuss issues aimed at increasing border capacity between the Republic of Armenia and the Islamic Republic of Iran met in Yerevan.
YEREVAN, June 24. /ARKA/. On June 23, a working group established to discuss issues aimed at increasing border capacity between the Republic of Armenia and the Islamic Republic of Iran met in Yerevan.
The meeting was chaired by Armenian Deputy Minister of Economy Edgar Zakaryan and Iranian Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development Reza Akbari.
The meeting's agenda included issues related to road tolls, the development of logistics infrastructure, and the operation of border crossing points.
As Zakaryan noted, the Armenian Ministry of Economy attaches great importance to further deepening trade and economic cooperation between Armenia and Iran and diversifying logistics capabilities.
He stated that the modernization and technical re-equipment of border infrastructure could provide an additional incentive for increasing mutual trade between the two countries.
The meeting was also attended by Iran's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia Khalil Shirgolami and Armenia's Trade Attaché to Iran Hayk Nazaryan.
