Yerevan expects to expand strategic programs with the EBRD

Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan received the newly appointed and outgoing Regional Directors for the Caucasus of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the heads of the Armenian office.
YEREVAN, June 24. /ARKA/. Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan received the newly appointed and outgoing Regional Directors for the Caucasus of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the heads of the Armenian office.
According to the government press service, after congratulating Tomas Kairys and Remon Zakaria on their appointments, the Deputy Prime Minister expressed hope that the jointly implemented strategic programs will continue to expand.
Grigoryan praised the cooperation established between the Armenian government and the EBRD and thanked Alkis Drakinos and George Akhalkatsi for their effective and important work with government agencies and the private sector.
The EBRD has appointed Remon Zakaria as the new Head of its Office in Armenia. He will take up his position on 1 September 2026, succeeding Giorgi Akhalkatsi, who has held this position since 1 May 2022. Zakaria will be based in Yerevan and responsible for the bank's investments and operations in Armenia. He will report to Tomas Kairys, EBRD Regional Director for the Caucasus.
