Armenia is preparing to export fish to EU: head of regulator spoke about details of registering companies in TRACES system
YEREVAN, July 17. /ARKA/. The head of the Food Safety Inspection Authority of Armenia, Tigran Petrosyan, presented details of the registration of companies in the European TRACES system for the export of fish and fishery products to the EU.

On July 16, the Government of Armenia approved the procedure for registering companies in the EU Trade Control and Expert Support System (TRACES) and issuing veterinary and sanitary certificates for the export of fish and fishery products from Armenia to EU countries. Thus, the country has received official permission from the European Commission to export frozen and processed fish produced in Armenia, as well as other fish products, to the EU. According to the Ministry of Economy, 5 Armenian companies have already expressed interest in supplying fish products to the EU and are awaiting completion of the necessary procedures.

“On July 20, four experts from EU countries will arrive in Armenia, who, as part of the preparation of the first batch of exports of fishery products, will provide detailed information on the registration procedure in the system,” Petrosyan said at a press conference on Friday.

According to him, in order to register, business entities must submit an application to the Inspection Body, since this structure is the authorized body on the territory of Armenia.

“The application will need to be accompanied by the relevant 18 documents, which will be posted on the regulator’s website today. Within five days, the documents will be reviewed, after which a corresponding audit of the company will be carried out, and the regulator will register it in the system,” Petrosyan explained.

Petrosyan also said that one company has already contacted the regulator.
