Armenia and Oman Discuss Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Export Opportunities
YEREVAN, July 16. /ARKA/. Armenian Deputy Ministers of Economy Arman Khojoyan and Anushik Avetyan discussed fresh fruit and vegetable export opportunities from Armenia to Oman with the heads of the Omani company KV Group – Director Abdul Wahidi and Vice President Mohammed Al Balushi.

According to the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Economy, the parties discussed prospects for developing trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

Khojoyan presented the Armenian government's measures to stimulate exports and emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation with the Persian Gulf countries. He also spoke about the country's potential in intensive horticulture and greenhouse farming.

Representatives of KV Group expressed interest in importing Armenian fresh fruit and vegetable produce.

The Ministry of Economy noted that they will visit Armenian horticultural and greenhouse farms to learn about their products and export opportunities.

On support for Armenian exports

Amid Russian trade restrictions, Armenian authorities have expanded support measures for exporters shipping to European countries and Canada. The possibility of extending certain support measures to include exports to the United States is also being considered.

Currently, the government reimburses transportation costs and customs duties for fruits, vegetables, and flowers shipped to the EU, the UK, and Canada, and provides subsidies for the export of certain products.

The expanded state support program applies to fresh and dried fruits, vegetables and vegetable chips, certain beverages, and fish (trout and sturgeon).
