Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs: Only citizens of the country can vote in national elections
YEREVAN, June 3. /ARKA/. The Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that only citizens of the Republic of Armenia have the right to participate in national elections.

"Misleading information regarding the electoral rights of persons displaced from Karabakh was disseminated on social media, according to which it was allegedly possible to obtain the right to vote and be included on the voter lists without applying for or obtaining Armenian citizenship," the Ministry of Internal Affairs said in a statement.

The Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs appealed to the Civil Court of Appeals the rulings issued in three civil cases by the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction.

"The Civil Court of Appeals of the Republic of Armenia upheld the appeals filed by the Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in these cases: the rulings were annulled, and the civil proceedings were terminated," the statement said.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs also noted that the right to appeal a judicial decision is determined not by the court decision itself, but by the relevant legal provisions.

The ministry reiterated that only citizens of Armenia have the right to participate in national elections and urged people not to be misled by misleading statements or take futile actions based on them.

The next parliamentary elections will be held in Armenia on June 7, 2026.
