ARKA News Agency Awarded Gold Medal and Certificate of Honor by the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Armenia

ARKA News Agency has been awarded a gold medal and a certificate of honor by the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Armenia (UIEA) for its consistent and in-depth coverage of domestic and international economic affairs, as well as in honor of its 30th anniversary, announced UIEA Chairman Arsen Ghazaryan.
YEREVAN, May 11. /ARKA/. ARKA News Agency has been awarded a gold medal and a certificate of honor by the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Armenia (UIEA) for its consistent and in-depth coverage of domestic and international economic affairs, as well as in honor of its 30th anniversary, announced UIEA Chairman Arsen Ghazaryan.
"Thirty years ago, an agency appeared in Armenia that provided us with international and local business digests, as well as bulletins of local and international information. It was ARKA News Agency, and before we knew it, ARKA turned 30 years old," he said Monday during an extended meeting of the UIEA Council.
Ghazaryan recalled that ARKA, headed by Director Konstantin Petrosov, was the first agency in Armenia to establish the practice of annually rating and rewarding Armenian banks for information transparency, adding that he himself subscribed to the agency's information products.
"Even today, ARKA maintains its role in the Armenian business community," the head of the ARKA emphasized.
In turn, Nerses Karamanukyan, Deputy Chairman of the ARKA and former head of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Armenia office, noted that during his time with the World Bank, ARKA occupied a special place among other sources of information for the World Bank.
"I've known about this since 1999 and was surprised that such an agency existed that, in the form of professional quarterly reports, supplied the World Bank with banking sector bulletins and other information on the weekly economic situation in the country. ARKA was considered an official source. If you cited ARKA as saying something, then it must be true," he emphasized. Karamanukyan added that other World Bank member countries also used ARKA news for information about Armenia.
"Today, we are greatly honored to receive the gold medal from the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Armenia—especially symbolic in the agency's anniversary year. This award is a testament to the entire ARKA team, which has created professional and responsible journalism over the years," said ARKA Director Konstantin Petrosov.
