YEREVAN, May 28. /ARKA/. Yerevan and Washington will work on developing a new geological map of Armenia. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this at a briefing on Thursday.

On May 26, Armenia and the United States signed a Framework Memorandum on Ensuring Supplies for the Extraction and Processing of Critical Minerals and Rare Earth Resources.

"The mining sector in Armenia has changed significantly over the past ten years. In the context of the development of artificial intelligence, rare earth metals have acquired great importance. There is an important program that we must implement with the United States. This involves exploring Armenia's subsoil using modern technologies and in accordance with the requirements of a modern economy," Pashinyan said.

According to him, there are minerals that 40-50 years ago were of no interest other than scientific. And today they are of significant importance for the economy, industry, AI, and the production of technological products.
