YEREVAN, June 24. /ARKA/. The European Union will provide advisory support to Armenia in developing strategic road routes from the border with Azerbaijan to the border with Turkey, with the aim of developing regional transport links.

To this end, the European Commission, the European Investment Bank (EIB), and the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia signed joint letters of intent in Brussels at the high-level event to launch the Connectivity Agenda Platform. The protocol was signed by EC representative Adrienne Kiraly, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia Kristine Ghalechyan, as well as representatives of the EBRD and EIB.

These documents officially mark the start of advisory support within the framework of the EPIC (Eastern Partnership Investment in Connectivity) initiative, the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia reported on Facebook. The amount of the advisory support is not specified.

It is noted that the initiative provides advisory support for preparatory work on the strategic Akhurik-Kayan (212 km from the border with Azerbaijan to the border with Turkey) and Margara-Kayan (258 km from the border with Azerbaijan to the border with Turkey) road routes, which will connect the border crossing points with the Armenian road network.

In the first stage, the EIB will provide advisory support to determine the scope of the necessary studies and develop practical solutions for the implementation of these road projects.

The projects are being implemented within the framework of the Armenian government's "Crossroads of Peace" initiative and are aimed at developing regional transport links, strengthening Armenia's role as a reliable transport and logistics hub, and promoting the EU Connectivity Agenda.
