YEREVAN, September 11. /ARKA/. A draft law calling for Armenia’s withdrawal from the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), proposed by the opposition Yelk (Exit) bloc is premature, said Gagik Harutyunyan, the director of the Noravank research and education foundation.
On Saturday Yelk decided to submit a bill to the National Assembly demanding that Armenia walks out of EEU.
"Unfortunately, or fortunately, there is no alternative to Armenia’s membership in EEU. Let's not forget that for more than 100 years our security has been tied to the Russian armed forces," said Harutyunyan. Armenia became a full-fledged member of the EEU in January, 2015. Currently, the organization also includes Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. -0-
