YEREVAN, May 7. /ARKA/. In Armenia, inflation was 5.3% in April 2026 compared to April 2025, with a monthly increase of 1.3%. This is according to a report from the Statistical Committee.
In April 2026, compared to April 2025, prices for food products and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 9.5%, with a monthly increase of 2.8%. Alcohol and tobacco prices in April increased by 7.7% year-over-year, and by 0.5% compared to March of this year. In April 2026, clothing and footwear prices increased by 1.7% year-on-year and 1.1% month-on-month, while utility prices increased by 0.5% year-on-year and 0.1% month-on-month. Prices for household goods, appliances, and daily apartment maintenance increased by 1% in April, with no change month-on-month.
Healthcare price growth in April was 4.2% year-on-year, with a 0.1% decline month-on-month. Transportation prices increased by 2% year-on-year and 0.5% month-on-month. Communications prices increased by 1.2% year-on-year and 0.3% month-on-month, while recreation and culture prices declined by 0.3%, with a 0.3% increase month-on-month. In the education sector, prices increased by 8.3% year-on-year, with no change month-on-month. In the restaurant and hotel sectors, prices increased by 4.2% and 0.5%, respectively. For various goods and services, growth was 2.8% year-on-year and 0.5% month-on-month.
Meanwhile, in the non-food market, prices increased by 1.6% in April 2026 compared to April 2025, and by 0.5% compared to March of this year. Tariffs for services increased by 2.6% year-on-year, while remaining unchanged compared to March.
Armenia's 2026 state budget projects economic growth at 5.4%. According to the Central Bank's monetary policy report for the first quarter of this year, by the end of 2026, Armenia's GDP growth is expected to be 7.1-4.7%, depending on scenario (A-B), 5.7-5.3% in 2027, and 4.9-5.2% in 2028.
