Food prices in Armenia increased by 9.5% year-on-year and 2.8% month-on-month in April

Food and non-alcoholic beverage prices increased by 9.5% in April 2026 compared to April 2025, and by 2.8% month-on-month, according to a report by the Statistical Committee.
YEREVAN, May 7. /ARKA/. Food and non-alcoholic beverage prices increased by 9.5% in April 2026 compared to April 2025, and by 2.8% month-on-month, according to a report by the Statistical Committee.
Bread and cereal prices increased by 3.5% year-on-year and 0.2% month-on-month in April. Rice prices fell by 3.5% year-on-year and 1.2% month-on-month in April.
Wheat groats increased in price by 10.5% and 2%, respectively, buckwheat by 7.7% with a month-on-month decline of 0.6%, flour by 4.4% with a flat month-on-month trend, bread by 2.9% with a month-on-month increase of 0.2%, and pasta by 11% and 2%, respectively. Lobster prices fell by 0.7% year-on-year and 0.7% month-on-month, lentils increased by 0.1% and 0.5%, respectively, and peas by 3.7% year-on-year and 0.5% month-on-month.
Meat prices in April increased by 11.5% year-on-year and 2.2% month-on-month. Beef prices increased by 20.5% year-on-year and 5% month-on-month, pork by 12.5% with a 0.5% month-on-month decline, mutton by 14.9% and 1.1%, respectively, and poultry (chicken) by 4.8% and 0.2%.
Fish and seafood prices increased by 3.7% in April 2026 compared to April 2025, and decreased by 1.3% compared to March of this year. Fresh trout prices increased by 1% year-on-year during the reporting period, and decreased by 1.5% month-on-month.
Prices in the "Dairy Products, Cheese, and Eggs" category increased by 13.3% year-on-year in April, and by 0.1% month-on-month. At the same time, pasteurized and sterilized milk prices increased by 9% year-on-year and by 0.1% month-on-month, sour cream by 9.3% and 0.1%, respectively, cheese by 8.5% year-on-year and 0.1%, respectively, and eggs by 31.3% and 0.3%, respectively.
Products in the "Oils and Fats" group increased in price in April by 8.2% year-on-year and decreased by 0.2% month-on-month. Meanwhile, butter increased in price by 8.7% but decreased by 0.3% month-on-month, while sunflower oil increased by 11.6% and 0.1%, respectively.
Fruit prices in April increased by 10.3% year-on-year and by 5.2% month-on-month. In the "Vegetables" category, prices increased by 6.5% year-on-year and by 10.1% month-on-month.
In the "Sugar, Fruit Puree, Honey, Syrups, Chocolate, and Sugar Confectionery" category, prices increased by 5.9% year-on-year and 0.5% month-on-month in April. Sugar and granulated sugar increased by 0.9% year-on-year but fell by 0.5% month-on-month, while chocolate increased by 9% year-on-year and 1.2% month-on-month.
In the "Coffee, Tea, and Cocoa" category, prices increased by 6.9% in April of this year compared to April of last year and by 0.3% compared to March of this year. Coffee increased by 6.8% year-on-year and 0.1% month-on-month, while cocoa increased by 22.4% and 0.1%, respectively. Prices for mineral, spring, and bottled drinking water increased by 4.8% year-on-year and 0.4% month-on-month in April.
Of alcoholic beverages, vodka increased in price by 9.8% year-on-year and 0.9% month-on-month in April, wine by 1.6% and 0.6%, respectively, and beer by 4.7% and 0.5%.
Tobacco products increased in price by 7.7% year-on-year and 0.2% month-on-month in April.
Food products not included in other groups increased in price by 3.5% in April 2026 compared to April 2025, and by 0.4% compared to March of this year. Meanwhile, in the non-food market, prices increased by 1.6% in April 2026 compared to April 2025, and by 0.5% compared to March of this year.
In Armenia, inflation in April 2026 compared to April 2025 was 5.3%, and for the month, it was 1.3%.
