YEREVAN, May 6. /ARKA/. The Armenian government will invest approximately $10 million in creating tourism infrastructure in the Yeghegis Gorge, announced Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan.
According to him, the program is aimed at transforming the area into one of Armenia's key tourist centers and increasing its attractiveness for tourists, residents, and investors.
"A road will be built on this section, providing access to historical and cultural sites, in particular the Zorats Church. On another section—from Smbataberd—the construction of a cable car from Artabuynka is planned," Papoyan said.
The minister added that the region has problems with electricity and water supplies, which will also require investment.
"The Yeghegis Gorge should become, and I am confident it will become, an important tourist center," Papoyan stated.
