Economic activity in Armenia increased by 6.9% in January-April 2026
YEREVAN, May 26. /ARKA/. According to preliminary data, Armenia's economic activity index increased by 6.9% in January-April 2026 compared to the same period in 2025, the Statistical Committee of the Republic reports.
Moreover, in April of this year, economic activity increased by 7.1% compared to April of last year, and by 6% compared to March of this year.
Over the four months, industrial production amounted to 1,002,805.1 million drams, an increase of 13% compared to January-April 2025. In April, year-on-year growth was 11.7%, while month-on-month growth was 0.2%. The construction volume for the reporting period amounted to 144,649.1 million drams, an increase of 22.9% compared to the same period last year. In April, the year-on-year growth was 24.7%, and the month-on-month growth was 18.6%.
Domestic trade turnover for January-April amounted to 2,014,135.9 million drams, 1.5% higher than the same period last year. In April, the year-on-year growth was 0.1%, and the month-on-month growth was 1.9%.
The service sector's turnover excluding trade reached 1,342,322.4 million drams for the first four months of 2026, an increase of 7.6% compared to the same period in 2025. In April, the year-on-year growth was 9.1%, and the month-on-month growth was 3.4%. Armenian Economic Figures and Forecasts
The 2026 state budget projects 5.4% economic growth for Armenia. According to the Central Bank's monetary policy report for the first quarter of this year, GDP growth is expected to be 7.1-4.7% by the end of 2026, 5.7-5.3% in 2027, and 4.9-5.2% in 2028, depending on scenarios (A-B).
International financial institutions' forecasts for Armenia's economic growth in 2026 include: EDB - 5.3%; WB - 5.3%; IMF - 5.3%; ADB - 5.5%; EBRD - 5.5%; S&P Global Ratings - 5.3%; Fitch Ratings - above 5% (for 2026-2027).
