Armenia improves its position in WEF Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report
YEREVAN, June 2. /ARKA/. Armenia is ranked 61st out of 117 countries in World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report 2021 having improved its position by 18 points compared to previous report.
Armenia was 79th among 140 countries in WEF Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report 2019.
Armenia is behind former Soviet republics of Estonia (29th), Lithuania (42nd), Georgia (44th), and Latvia (48th). At the same time, Armenia is ahead of Azerbaijan (63rd), Kazakhstan (66th), Moldova (77th), Kyrgyzstan (90th) . Turkey is 45th.
Leaders of the ranking are Japan, USA, Spain, France and Germany, while the outsiders are Angola, Sierra Leone, Mali, Yemen and Chad.
The report has been compiled by the World Economic Forum every two years, starting from 2007. It is based on such criteria as historical and cultural heritage of the country, development of economy, transport, hospitality sector, communications, medicine, visa policy and population openness. -0-
