EU allocates €8.55 million for education reforms in Armenia
YEREVAN, April 30. /ARKA/. The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport of Armenia and the European Union Delegation to the country presented the current results of reforms implemented under the financial agreement "EU Support to Education in Armenia."
According to the ministry's press service, one of the key areas of the program is the development of educational infrastructure.
Interim results include the renovation of school infrastructure, the transition of schools to a new management system, increased transparency in the appointment of principals, the introduction of a new funding mechanism for multi-classroom classes, and the development of STEM education by equipping schools with modern laboratories.
Furthermore, the program includes teacher retraining, the introduction of career guidance in all schools for grades 8–11, updating the curriculum with a focus on the green economy and climate change, and the launch of a new assessment system.
Based on an assessment of the program's objectives, the EU has allocated €8.55 million for education reforms. The Ministry reaffirms its commitment to continuing educational reforms, ensuring high-quality, inclusive and modern education for all citizens of the Republic of Armenia, and also attaches importance to close and effective cooperation with the EU Delegation to Armenia, which plays a significant role in the successful and targeted implementation of the EU budget support program.-0-
