Pashinyan: Armenia cannot be deprived of its member status in the EAEU
YEREVAN, June 7. /ARKA/. Armenia cannot be deprived of its member status in the EAEU, said Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan.

“All decisions there are made by consensus. Armenia has the right of veto, like all other countries,” Pashinyan noted in a conversation with reporters.

Regarding the holding of a referendum on the choice between membership in the EAEU and the EU, the Prime Minister emphasized that the referendum will be held when the question of the subject of the referendum arises.

“To do this, Armenia must officially apply for EU membership or must have candidate status. At the moment, there is neither one nor the other. Objectively, we know that we are not ready for this status, we must carry out reforms, and we will calmly continue the path of reforms,” Pashinyan said.

He stated that he himself could not decide the perspective of Armenia - the EU or the EAEU.

“My task is to make sure that the people of Armenia have a choice, and the people will decide by voting which path we will take,” the prime minister added.

Pashinyan also said that the EAEU partners, in his opinion, “tactically approach the issue incorrectly.”

“Instead of increasing the attractiveness of the EAEU in our country, they are doing the opposite. After all, then people will decide, not me,” he said.
