YEREVAN, June 7. /ARKA/. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated that the tensions in Armenian-Russian relations are artificial, noting that they need some improvement.
"We think that after the elections, especially with our Russian partners, in a healthy and constructive atmosphere, we will be able to improve and discuss the existing problems that arise from time to time in any bilateral relationship, and find solutions that will be beneficial to both Armenia and Russia," he said after the parliamentary elections.
According to him, "Russian partners should, like us, respect sovereignty and the right to independent decisions, and also demonstrate a more constructive approach."
Restrictions on imports of products from Armenia to the Russian Federation
Rosselkhoznadzor (Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance) has imposed temporary restrictions on the import of a number of products from Armenia, citing "increased violations of phytosanitary requirements of the Eurasian Economic Union and Russia." The restrictions apply to flowers and food products from May 22; fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, greens, and strawberries from May 30; fresh grapes and stone fruits (cherries, sweet cherries, apricots, plums, peaches, and nectarines) from June 2; and pome fruits, eggplants, potatoes, and dried fruits from June 3.
Rosselkhoznadzor also stated that, starting June 2, Armenia must suspend veterinary certification of live fish and fish products from all Armenian companies to Russian recipients, with the exception of two enterprises that passed inspection. In addition, Rospotrebnadzor suspended the import and circulation in Russia of all batches of Jermuk mineral water from Armenia, as well as wine and cognac from three Armenian producers.
