YEREVAN, August 31. /ARKA/. Iran has called for the prompt removal of obstacles hindering trade and transit through the Norduz border crossing with Armenia.

According to the IRNA news agency, Hossein Forouzan, Secretary of the Supreme Council of Free and Special Economic Zones of Iran, made this statement during a visit to the Norduz border terminal.

He stated that resolving existing problems at the border crossing requires constant monitoring and close coordination between all responsible agencies.

Forouzan noted that to simplify trade and transit processes, executive and supervisory bodies must avoid uncoordinated decisions.

"Reducing vehicle downtime and improving customs services are directly related to export development," he stated, adding that existing obstacles must be promptly addressed through an expert approach. Foruzan also emphasized the need to develop physical infrastructure and simplify customs procedures at Norduz to more effectively utilize the region's transit potential.

According to IRNA, the Norduz border terminal, located in the Julfa region on the Araks River, is the only land border crossing between Iran and Armenia and plays a strategic role in Iran's trade with the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union.
