The Investigative Committee of Armenia has decided to detain the former chairman of the State Revenue Committee (SRC), Gagik Khachatryan, in a criminal case for subsequent presentation to court.
YEREVAN, September 1. /ARKA/. The Investigative Committee of Armenia has decided to detain the former chairman of the State Revenue Committee (SRC), Gagik Khachatryan, in a criminal case for subsequent presentation to court.
According to the press service of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, the criminal proceedings concern bribery on an especially large scale and money laundering on an especially large scale.
"Urgent investigative and procedural actions have been carried out in the apartments of the former chairman of the SRC, Gagik Khachatryan, and his son, as well as in the offices and branches of 21 companies affiliated with them," the agency stated.
Gagik Khachatryan headed the State Revenue Committee of Armenia from 2008 to 2014, and served as the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Armenia from 2014 to 2016.
A suspect or accused of an alleged crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a final court decision, in accordance with the procedure established by the Criminal Procedure Code of Armenia.
