YEREVAN, May 7. /ARKA/. At the head office of “Electric Networks of Armenia” CJSC, the company’s Temporary Head Romanos Petrosyan received Lucian Enaru, Regional Director of Schneider Electric in Romania, Moldova, and Armenia, ENA press service reports.

He was accompanied by Avetik Kalantaryan, Head of the Armenias Representative Office of “Schneider Electric Romania,” and Rafael Aleksanyan, General Director of “Electromontazh” LLC, which is the company’s local partner.

The meeting was also attended by Lilit Haroyan, Head of the Investment Promotion and External Relations Department at the “Enterprise Armenia” (Investment Support Center) Foundation, as well as Armen Shahnazaryan, Deputy General Director for Economics and Finance at “Electric Networks of Armenia” CJSC, and Levon Hovhannisyan, Deputy General Director for Sales.

During the discussion, the parties addressed potential areas of cooperation, particularly in the modernization of energy systems and the implementation of advanced technologies.

They also emphasized the importance of joint programs in electrification, automation, and digitalization, as well as the development of infrastructure and the strengthening of system resilience.

The parties expressed their willingness to continue discussions with public and private partners, actively collaborating and presenting new proposals aimed at modernizing energy systems.

The importance of developing and introducing new initiatives focused on modernization, the adoption of innovative technologies, and the promotion of investment programs was highlighted, with the goal of ensuring sustainable development and improving efficiency in the sector.

On Schneider Electric

“Schneider Electric Romania” is a regional division of the French company Schneider Electric, operating in Romania and covering the markets of Moldova and Armenia.

Schneider Electric is a global leader in energy technologies, focused on promoting efficiency and sustainability through electrification, automation, and digitalization. The company’s solutions enhance the efficiency and resilience of infrastructures, businesses, and energy systems.

Schneider Electric Romania's regional office coordinates the company's activities in Romania, Armenia, and Moldova.

Schneider Electric has previously collaborated with Armenia on energy and technology projects, including infrastructure modernization and digitalization of energy systems.

On ENA

Electric Networks of Armenia CJSC manages medium and low-voltage distribution networks in Armenia, serving approximately 1 million customers. Since 2016, ENA's owner, Tashir Group, has invested approximately $680 million in modernization alone, with an additional $150-200 million invested in creating new capacity.

The Armenian authorities intend to nationalize ENA, recognizing the company as a priority public interest company and compensating its owner, Tashir Group. To this end, parliament adopted corresponding amendments to the RA Laws "On Energy" and "On the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority."

Romanos Petrosyan has been acting as ENA's interim manager since July 18, 2025, according to a decision by the Chairman of the Public Services Regulatory Commission of the Republic of Armenia.

At its meeting on November 17, 2025, the Public Services Regulatory Commission revoked ENA's electricity (capacity) distribution license. The basis for this was violations discovered during the four-month investigation, including falsifications, deficiencies, and other falsifications of electricity meter readings, violations in the implementation of investment programs, violations of deadlines and procedures for connecting new subscribers, and violations of building and fire safety regulations during the construction and renovation of certain facilities.

ENA representatives disagree with the presented findings, questioning the accuracy of the sample and the results of the research conducted by the PSRC.

On criminal case

Tashir Group President Samvel Karapetyan was arrested on June 18, 2025. He has been under house arrest and bail since December 30. He is charged with three counts: "public calls for the seizure of power" (following his statements of support for the Catholicos of All Armenians and the Armenian Apostolic Church), large-scale tax evasion, and money laundering. He denies the charges.
