YEREVAN, August 8. /ARKA/. On August 8, 2026, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan called Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the press service of the Armenian government reported.

During the telephone conversation, the parties exchanged views on the first anniversary of the Washington Summit on Peace, held on August 8, 2025, with the support of U.S. President Donald Trump. During the summit, peace was established between Azerbaijan and Armenia and the peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia was initialed.

The parties particularly noted the important role of President Donald Trump and the U.S. government in advancing the peace process.

The parties noted the progress achieved over the past year in normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

During the conversation, the importance of developing trade and economic ties between the two countries was emphasized as a tangible manifestation of the benefits of peace. In this context, the parties noted the export of Azerbaijani petroleum products to Armenia, as well as the transit of cargo through Azerbaijan to Armenia and from Armenia to other destinations.

Furthermore, the parties exchanged views on the implementation of the TRIPP route in accordance with the agreements reached in Washington.

The parties emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to advance the peace process and ensure long-term peace, stability, connectivity, and economic cooperation in the region.
