Armenian Foreign Minister declares that peace has now been established in the region
YEREVAN, September 26. /ARKA/. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan declared that peace has now been established in the region.
"Today, following the successful trilateral meeting and the historic event that took place on August 8 in Washington, where the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan was initialed, I declare that peace has now been established," Mirzoyan said, speaking at the G20 Ministerial Meeting at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
He noted that sustainable development cannot be achieved without peace and recalled that in his speech last year in this same hall, he emphasized Armenia's unwavering commitment to strengthening peace in the region.
Mirzoyan added that last year, as part of the peace agenda, Armenia launched the Crossroads of Peace initiative, aimed at developing transport links between Armenia and its neighboring countries and extending far beyond that.
"This year, after the signing of the Joint Declaration between Armenia and Azerbaijan, witnessed by the United States, we agreed on the fundamental principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity, inviolability of borders, and jurisdiction of states, and are now working on technical solutions that will be implemented in accordance with these principles," the minister stated.
He is confident that the full opening of transport links and the unleashing of the region's transit and trade potential will be a turning point.
"The implementation of the Crossroads of Peace initiative, along with its integral TRIPP transport connectivity project, will create new opportunities for economic growth, dialogue, and people-to-people contacts, thereby contributing to greater stability and prosperity," Mirzoyan said, thanking partner countries and expressing hope for the support of all international partners, including the G20, in advancing this vision.-0-
