Gas supply to Armenia halted after Georgia accident
YEREVAN, November 13. /ARKA/. Natural gas supplies to Armenia will be temporarily suspended due to emergency recovery work in Georgia, ‘’Gazprom Armenia’’ reports.
“From 10:00 on November 13 to 22:00 on November 14, emergency restoration work will be carried out on the Kazakh-Saguramo section (DN 1000) of the North Caucasus-Transcaucasia transit gas pipeline in Georgia, during which natural gas supplies to Armenia will be temporarily suspended,” the statement said.
It is also noted that, during this period, uninterrupted and reliable gas supply to the country's consumers will continue without restrictions, thanks to internal reserves and additional volumes of natural gas from Iran.
The monopoly supplier of natural gas from Russia to Armenia for domestic consumption is ‘’Gazprom-Armenia’’ CJSC, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Russian holding Gazprom. Gas is delivered through Georgia, with the price at the border set at $165 per 1,000 cubic meters.
‘’Gazprom-Armenia’’ is also responsible for the transportation, storage, distribution, and sale of gas, as well as the reconstruction and expansion of the gas transportation system and underground gas storage facilities in Armenia. -0-
