Khudatyan Comments on Possible Russian Gas Price Increase for Armenia
YEREVAN, May 30. /ARKA/. Armenia's natural gas supplies are currently secured, stated Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure David Khudatyan, commenting on the possible risks of Russian gas price increases.

The previous day, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Armenia could lose 14% of its GDP if energy prices are forced to rise due to its withdrawal from the Eurasian Economic Union.

"We are in close contact with our partners. Even if there are risks, they are manageable for the economy of the Republic of Armenia," Khudatyan said, responding to a question from Azatutyun.

When asked whether he ruled out a gas price increase, the minister noted that the authorities "never rule anything out."

"But I must say that the press is making this statement and its consequences seem ten times more dire. This statement made no mention of price or deadlines," Khudatyan said.

According to him, Armenia continues to actively work with its partners, and supplies are being carried out as usual and within the framework of the existing agreement.

"The government of the Republic of Armenia is doing everything possible to ensure comfortable conditions for consumers. The government certainly has a Plan B, but we are not at the point where we can announce it," the minister emphasized.

On May 27, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharov stated that Russia had notified the Armenian side of the possible suspension or denunciation of the 2013 agreement on the supply of gas, oil products, and rough diamonds if Armenia's EU accession process proceeds.
