YEREVAN, June 3. /ARKA/. At its meeting on Wednesday, the Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia adopted a decision amending the natural gas metering procedures for non-residential consumers.

The change is aimed at increasing the transparency, accuracy, and efficiency of natural gas metering for non-residential consumers.

According to the decision, meters for non-residential consumers—business entities—will be installed at the expense of Gazprom Armenia CJSC at the network demarcation line. If necessary, they can be located outside the consumer's premises, in a location accessible to the gas distribution system operator.

The commission notes that the new regulation will ensure more accurate recording of readings, simplify the maintenance and inspection of meters, and reduce the risk of potential disputes.

Meter readings will be recorded with the joint participation of representatives of the consumer and the gas supply company, which, according to the PSRC, should ensure the accuracy of the data in calculations.

The PSRC stated that the decision is another step toward modernizing regulation in the energy sector, improving service quality, and protecting consumer rights.

Gazprom-Armenia CJSC (a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Russian holding company Gazprom) is the monopoly supplier of natural gas from Russia to Armenia for domestic consumption. Gas supplies are transited through Georgia, with the price of Russian gas at the border being $165 per 1,000 cubic meters.
