YEREVAN, February 12. /ARKA/. A digital registry of tour operators and a points-based system are being introduced in Armenia, RA Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan announced at a government meeting on Thursday.
The government approved the content of information on tourism service providers to be included in the electronic registry, as well as the procedure and forms for its submission and maintenance.
According to Papoyan, the project is aimed at protecting the rights of tourists arriving in Armenia, developing domestic tourism, and ensuring uniform rules for tourism entities.
"The tool will be implemented entirely digitally. The corresponding website has been developed by the government and integrated with the Tourism Committee's system. Through it, tourism entities will be able to register and declare their activities," Papoyan noted.
The minister noted that after registration, the relevant documents will be verified, and the organizations will be issued certificates that will allow them to operate.
He added that if any discrepancies are identified, liability will be provided in accordance with the established law.
Furthermore, Papoyan announced that a points-based control system will be implemented: each entity will be assigned 20 points, which may be reduced based on the review of complaints. Information on these points will be made public, the minister added.
