Yerevan residents enjoying at least 12-hour water supply in daytime
YEREVAN, November 21. /ARKA/. One week ago Yerevan Jur Company started providing residents of Armenia’s capital with 12-hour water supply in the daytime, Gagik Margaryan, the company’s director for communications and relations with clients, said today.
“It was initially stated in the company’s contract that we ought to ensure at least six-hour water-supply by April 2011 and later eight-hour supply,” he said. “Twelve-hour water supply was planned only for April 2012, but this is one week the capital’s residents enjoy this 12-hour minimum.”
Margaryan said that all the districts but Nork Marash and Sari Takh have water 12 hours a day.
He said that these districts’ water-conveying facilities were badly dilapidated and need substantial repair.
“We are trying to do whatever necessary to provide these districts with at least eight-our water supply,” he said.
Margaryan said that the company has fulfilled its commitments, including investments, ahead of schedule.
“The company has invested AMD 4.5 billion instead of the planned 3.4 billion into upgrading the system,” he said. “Besides, the company has spent own money for purchasing 36 pumps, which will provide nonstop water supply to other 8,000 families.”
Yerevan Jur CJSC is the residents company established by French Generale des Eaux, who has won the tender announced by the World Bank.
