Yerevan and Tbilisi plan to develop economic cooperation

Meeting of Armenian-Georgian intergovernmental commission took place on Saturday in Batumi headed by the Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan and Prime Minister of Georgia Nika Gilauri.
YEREVAN, November 21. /ARKA/. Meeting of Armenian-Georgian intergovernmental commission took place on Saturday in Batumi headed by the Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan and Prime Minister of Georgia Nika Gilauri. The parties discussed strengthening of cooperation in economic, educational, cultural, tourism and other spheres, press-service of the Government of Armenia informs.
Sargsyan said that the goal of mutual intergovernmental commission is to expand and make Armenian-Georgian relations multi-character. “We are interested in strengthening and development of our relations and hope that it comes from the interests of both nations”, said Sargsyan.
He noted that the programs implemented in cooperation with EU help Armenia and Georgia to invest principles of united economic policy which will allow to significantly increase the level of bilateral trade turnover.
“Dozens of issues included in our agenda evidence that our relations become more multi-character during years”, said Sargsyan. He sent warm greetings to the President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili from the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan.
Gilauri said that very good relations are established between Armenia and Georgia.
“ I am glad that year-by-year these relations are deepening and developing”, said Gilauri noting that trade turnover between two countries increased by 45% compared to the last year.
Gilauri also reminded about numerous Armenian-Georgian projects regarding the activity of customs check-points, construction of power transmission lines and the construction sphere.
“We should continue negotiations for full implementation of joint projects. At present, in Armenia and Georgia reforms in different spheres are implemented which will become the main instruments in the implementation of joint programs”, said Gilauri. -0-
