The newest cement-packing line, first in Couth Caucasus and the Commonwealth of Independent States, was put in use in Mika-Cement plant on Friday.
YEREVAN, November 19. /ARKA/. The newest cement-packing line, first in Couth Caucasus and the Commonwealth of Independent States, was put in use in Mika-Cement plant on Friday.

Naira Martirosyan, director general of the plant, speaking at the presentation ceremony, said that the 10-position rotary devise had been bought from German Haver&Boecker Company.

The device’s productivity is 150 ton/hour. It packs cement in 50-kg sacks.

Martirosyan said that investments in this technology total $5 million.

Annual economic effect from introduction of the new line is expected to amount to AMD 30 million.

“This stage of production process is very important, for a client has already packed commodity, and overseas customers attach importance to quality of packing,” Martirosyan said. “The new technology ensures fast packing. It requires no physical efforts and produces no much waste and dust.”

She said that introduction of the new line is the first step toward complete re-equipment of the plant.

“It is natural that such a modernized system doesn’t work to its full capacity, since we have no large customers so far,” Martirosyan said. “That is why some price rise is likely here.”

She said that price for one ton of cement packed by using the new technology will be raised by about 1,000 drams to 54,000 drams.

“We have carried out this modernization in an effort to make our products competitive and demanded overseas. This packing shields cement from moisture and makes it possible to export it.”

Mika-Cement plant was established on the basis of Hrazdan cement Plant, which was launched in 1970.

In 2001, the plant was privatized and renamed Mika-Cement.

The plant is equipped with two technologic lines producing 1.2 million tons of cement every year. ($1 = AMD 383.95). --0--
