Armenian-Belgian Trade Increases By 2.6% In January-September 2011 To $102 Million

Armenian-Belgian trade increased by 2.6% in January-September 2011 from a year before to about $102 million, a deputy Armenian economy minister, Garegin Melkonyan told ARKA.
YEREVAN, November 8 / ARKA /. Armenian-Belgian trade increased by 2.6% in January-September 2011 from a year before to about $102 million, a deputy Armenian economy minister, Garegin Melkonyan told ARKA.

According to him, Armenian exports increased by 5.5% year-on-year to $52.9 million and imports went up by 1.7% to $49.2 million. He said in 2009 the bilateral trade declined because of the crisis, but over the past two years the situation began to level off.

Armenia exports comprise treated diamonds, ores, concentrates, chemical and food products and textiles. It imports vehicle, animal and vegetable fats, drugs, medical equipment.

The deputy minister said the two countries have signed a number of bilateral agreements, in particular, the agreements on avoidance of double taxation, air transport, etc. Overall, relations between them are governed by EU legislation.

"I can say that all agreements, which could be signed between Armenia and Belgium, have been signed and they operate. In this area, we have no flaws," he said. -0-
