YEREVAN, April 18. /ARKA/. At a meeting on Saturday, the Armenian government approved a state program to support the purchase of fertilizers for farmers.
As stated by RA Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan, the program is necessary due to rising global fertilizer prices amid geopolitical processes and other factors beyond Armenia's control.
"The project proposes to subsidize the price of fertilizers sold by suppliers to beneficiaries by the difference between the selling price of a 50-kilogram bag and 8,000 drams, but no more than 3,000 drams per bag," Papoyan said.
He explained that if the price of a 50-kilogram bag of fertilizer is 10,500 drams, the subsidy will be 2,500 drams, and if the price reaches 11,500 drams, the subsidy will be 3,000 drams.
The minister also stated that the maximum subsidy per beneficiary is calculated for 30 hectares of cultivated land.
According to Papoyan, the program applies to both imported and domestically produced fertilizers, regardless of their type.
