YEREVAN, June 9. /ARKA/. Serious investments will be made in Armenian polyclinics, which provide primary medical services to population, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at a briefing on Tuesday.
He said the government is guided by the concept that the coronavirus crisis provides an opportunity for the healthcare system to make serious advance.
”We are confident that serious funds will be invested in polyclinics in the context of the anti-epidemiological struggle, and the system will significantly strengthen as a result of the fight against the pandemic,” Pashinyan said.
He assured that Armenia will have a much more diversified health care system with improved effectiveness of polyclinics.
The prime minister emphasized that one of the key tasks of the sector is to increase the efficiency of primary health care institutions.
"At the initial stage, when the polyclinics were only included in the fight against coronavirus, there were some problems and today they are still there, but with every day their number is reducing," Pashinyan said.
Regarding the issue of medical staff salaries, the head of government noted that the salary of many workers, including medics, has increased since last year.
As stated earlier by the Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan, only patients in serious condition are currently being hospitalized, due to shortage of beds in intensive care units. A few days ago, he said that about 15-20% of those infected need hospitalization, and the rest remain at home under the supervision of family doctors. -0-
