Salaries of Armenian ambulance staff to grow next year

Some 83.3 billion drams were allocated to  the Ministry of Health in 2018, by 4.4% or 3.6 billion drams less than in 2017, minister Arsen Torosyan told the parliament today.

YEREVAN, June 11 /ARKA/. Some 83.3 billion drams were allocated to  the Ministry of Health in 2018, by 4.4% or 3.6 billion drams less than in 2017, minister Arsen Torosyan told the parliament today.

According to the minister, only 1.4% of the country's GDP and 5% of the budget spending is provided to the health sector, one of the worst indicators in the world. He said the desired figures are 3 and 10 percent respectively.  The minister said also the salaries of medics working for Armenian ambulance service will rise next year.

“A couple of weeks ago, the government decided to provide them as well as other medical staff with social packages. As for salary, the annual budget of Armenia’s ambulance service will be increased to 4 billion drams next year, ‘he said.

According to the minister, this means both increasing salaries and attracting additional crews for timely response to calls. Torosyan noted that it is not yet known how much the salary will increase, but the rise will be noticeable. ($1 - dram 479.52). -0-
