Armenian citizens to have 8-day New Year and Christmas holidays
YEREVAN, December 24. /ARKA/. At its last session today this year the Armenian government decided that January, 8, Friday, will be the first working day of 2016. The decision is somewhat unexpected as previously Armenian citizens enjoyed protracted New Year and Christmas holidays from December 31 to January 11.

Under Armenian law on holidays and memorial days, New Year and Christmas (in Armenia the latter is celebrated on January 6)  holidays last from December 31 to January 6. The following day is marked by the Armenian Church as a day to remember the deceased and was usually declared non-working day.

Many Armenians expected that the government will again make January 8 (Friday) a non-working day, however, it did not happen.-0-
